Air Tanzania Introduces Boeing 767 Freighter to Expand Cargo Operations

Air Tanzania, one of Africa's leading airlines, has recently welcomed the delivery of a Boeing 767-300 Freighter to its fleet, marking the first direct freighter delivery from Boeing to an African carrier.

The aircraft arrived at the airline's hub in Dar es Salaam, providing Air Tanzania with dedicated air freight capacity to meet the growing demands of the country's cargo market.

Eng. Ladislaus Matindi, the managing director of Air Tanzania, expressed his excitement about the new addition, stating, "We are thrilled to welcome the 767-300 Boeing Freighter to our fleet. The 767 will cater to the growing cargo demand which was previously carried by passenger airplanes. It will enable Air Tanzania to support a journey towards a more sustainable future and meet time-critical cargo schedules across Africa and beyond.

We are looking forward to expanding our imports and exports industry, ensuring timely delivery and creating opportunities for global businesses to transport commercial cargo goods worldwide, thus boosting national economic growth."

The Boeing 767-300 Freighter offers several advantages for Air Tanzania, including fuel efficiency, operational flexibility, and low noise levels. With a range of 3,255 nautical miles and a revenue payload exceeding 52 tonnes, the 767-300 Freighter is an ideal choice for meeting the demands of growing e-commerce and express cargo markets. This delivery marks Air Tanzania's first dedicated freighter, enabling the country to enhance its imports and exports of perishable goods, pharmaceuticals, and other time-sensitive products.

Anbessie Yitbarek, the vice president of Africa Sales and Marketing at Boeing Commercial Airplanes, commented, "The 767 Freighter will enable Air Tanzania to significantly expand its operations with greater efficiency and flexibility across its network. Air Tanzania's cargo customers now have more options as the airline enhances freight connectivity between Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia."

Currently, Air Tanzania operates commercial services across Africa and to various destinations in Asia, boasting a fleet that includes two 787-8 Dreamliners. The airline has additional orders for one more 787-8 and two 737 MAX jets, demonstrating its commitment to further growth and development in the aviation industry.
